Christ to the World – An Advent Poem
Most years, as my Christmas gift to the body of Shades Valley Community Church, I write a poem (I’m a wanna be poet, but SVCC tolerates my attempts very graciously). This year, in light of our sermon series, “Christ to the World,” the Lord laid the following words on my heart. I pray that this points you to the hope, love, joy, and peace we have through the birth of Christ.
Merry Christmas, Jonathan Haefs

Christ to the World
Hope
We long and wait
We pray to see
Hope
Come in and break
Our slavery
Hope
Promised blessing
To you, to me
Hope
Here as King
Infant, holy
Love
Enfleshed in skin
With face and name
Love
Come break in
Release our chains
Love
Promised blessing
To you, to me
Love
Here as King
Infant, holy
Joy
Erupting now
Wild and free
Joy
Revealing how
We’re meant to be
Joy
Promised blessing
To you, to me
Joy
Here as King
Infant, holy
Peace
Silent night
Calm and still
Peace
All is bright
When near him kneel
Peace
Promised blessing
To you, to me
Peace
Here as King
Infant, holy
Christ
Came to us
Again, he shall come
Christ
Is enough
He shall win, He has won
Christ
Promised blessing
To you, to me
Christ
Coming King
Sovereign, holy
Advent
Promised blessing
To you, to me
Advent
Coming King
Look yonder and see
Advent
Hope-love, joy-peace
Announced, unfurled
Advent
Announces
Christ to the world
